Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Stigby
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS Youth Home Stigby in Visingsö has space for about 30 young people and accepts non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We are divided into a MBB department (reception and needs assessment), four treatment departments, and we also have an aftercare unit in Jönköping.
Job Description
Do you want to be part of creating the life-changing transformation for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivational work and provide support in everyday life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes, among other things, to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining safety according to our routines and help ensure that everyday life runs smoothly with schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. Being a contact person is also one of your tasks. The work may also include mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in a difficult life situation. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.
Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our commitment, and our attitude.
Working hours are according to schedule, day - evening, and weekend.
As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations.
Qualifications
To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations, and you share SiS's core values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are self-assured and easily build relationships with young people as well as with others in the staff group. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in stressful situations. You find it easy to collaborate with others and can handle conflicts constructively.
You should also have:
- A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we assess as equivalent
- A valid driver's license (B)
- Good Swedish language skills in both speech and writing
At SiS, we care about good employee engagement. This means that you, as an employee, take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Read more about our employee engagement.
